okay, idk if i did something, but just five seconds ago i found this circular patch of tongue near the back that is darker than the rest... do you know what this is? it doesn't hurt but i can see it in the mirror and i can feel it in my mouth sometimes. if you are a dentist please tell me what this is!!!
oh yeah, i made out with my bf yesterday... does this affect my tongue? only open mouth, no frenchies for me.

If what you're talking about is dark red- then it's one of the 4 types of "taste buds" you have. There are about 7- 10 large red circular "patches" at the very back of everyone's tongue. They help us taste bitter foods (and also produce a little saliva). They are called circumvallate papillae.
