my sister had a root canal... it hurt her for days and i is normal...my suggestion take tylenol pm or something that will make u sleep for a while then when u wake up immediately ice it, and eat some soup.

*Good luck....and hope your pain gets better

Normal pain, surprised dentist not prescribe any meds like valium, or hydrocodone. If not just use whiskey and rinse over the tooth.

The problem with the pain is that you have to catch it before it comes it is very hard to get rid of pain. This is normal though try to use a warm washcloth on your face and take another dose of vicodin when it is time and relax.

Were any X-Rays taken following the procedure? Some discomfort is not rare considering some disturbance of tissues past the tip of the tooth occurs. Extreme pain should not be considered normal.

Some discomfort is normal, but not pain. You should feel better after a root canal because the nerve has been removed from the tooth. I would call your dentist.

I had pain after my root canal. And it was actual pain. It took like 4 or 5 days to go away. The root may be gone but there's gums and surrounding nerves, and your jaw bone. They prescribed me vicodin, and that really helped. Also I didn't chew on that side. I also took ibuprofen at home.
