Missing ligature?!

Question: I just got braces this morning. I'm doing fine, other than just being uncomfortable.
It looks like the woman that put on my ligatures missed a bracket, and it doesn't have a ligature on it.
Should I go back in today or call tomorrow?

You should call the office. If I purposely don't tie in a bracket, I inform the patient and I make a notation in the chart. The receptionist should be able to pull your chart and see if this is the case or ask the hygienist who treated you. It could save you a trip to the office, but by all means, do ask.

It is possible for a bracket to be missed sometimes. No one is perfect and we see a lot of patients every day. If this is an oversight, it shouldn't wait till the next appointment or this tooth will move out of alignment. Then your braces will be on longer.

incredible....

Go back.

ask all the questions you need, and the help you or your insurance is paying for, either way you are the one that has to deal with it. i don't know much about braces, but if it's uncomfortable let them know it is. sometimes people just do the bare minimum now adays. we used to think when someone was a dentist, doctor or surgeon they would totally know what they were doing, but it is not like that . we need to overlook the stupid diploma on the wall and think ok what do their actions say... you know? people want to get paid but they don't like doing their job, maybe the lady just wanted to get out of her shift and rushed the thing not noticing she missed one.
good luck girly and ask questions, don't let them tell YOU how you will take the braces even if it's not to your liking. you would not go to a restaurant and have the workers there tell you what to order and not do anything about it.

I wouldnt bother doing either and would just wait until your next routine appointment.

Sometimes a dentist/orthodontist will deliberately miss out certain teeth when placing ligatures. They dont necessarily want all the teeth to move into alignment at the same time. I know I certainly do this. Please dont worry about it and ignore silly answers about doctors/dentists not really knowing what they are doing! Dentistry isnt difficult and and to suggest that an orthodontist stupidly left ligatures off teeth is crazy! You start at one side and work your way around to the other. They do this day in and day out and know better than anyone how to do their job and they do a damn fine one!
