Should I be concerned that my dentist performed a root canal on me with out usin!

Question: I don't know that you should be concerned at this point but I question a doc who doesn't use one for this procedure. They prevent the caustic cleaning agent that is used from entering your mouth where it would cause damage to your tissues, they prevent a dropped file from entering your throat and being swallowed or inhaled, and they keep mouth bacteria out of the canal so that it can be cleaned better. Treating a root canal without one is asking for a law suit and increases the chance of a failed root canal. There are very few instances when a rubber dam isn't warranted for this.

no worries!

no you should be thanking god he didnt use one they are quite painfull i hate when he puts a dam in my mouth....

It depends on whether or not the dentist had a reason for not rubber dam. Also it is acceptable to use a throat pack which is like a roll of bandage. I would prefer rubber dam to be used if i was the patient as quite strong chemicals are used to kill the bacteria in the root canal. It also stops bacteria in your saliva infecting the root canal. And importantly it stops the tiny sharp files used to clean the insude of the root canal from falling and possibly getting inhaled.

i dont know.....but i have a dentist app. tom.!

don't be worried! Your dentist knows what he is doing(hopefully!) Hope I was a help!
