Well, if you are in pain and suspect the one is infected you will want it done as soon as you can arrange it. Before they do the surgery, the oral surgeon or dentist will want you on antibiotics to get the infection under control. If you have four wisdom teeth, you can always opt to have all four removed at the same time. Having had plenty of oral surgery myself, and after overseeing the removal of teeth in two of my children, plus nursing others afterwards, I think sedation is really a good choice in your case. There is no high involved though, no. They start an iv and deliver the anesthetic through that. You just drift off to sleep, and wake up when it's all over with. You won't feel any pain at all during the procedure, and not for a few hours afterwards either. But you will need somebody to take you home and stay with you the first day at least. How much pain and swelling there is depends on how easy it is to remove the teeth and how badly infected things are. The first two days are usually the worst, and you have pain medications to help with that. You eat a lot of cold stuff, and a lot of soft stuff for about a week, and generally feel pretty ratty for a couple days. It doesn't seem to matter much if you have two or four taken out at a time, the amount of misery isn't a lot different. The only real noticeable difference would be that your whole mouth will hurt, both sides of your face- instead of just one side. Of course, when your mouth hurts it's my experience that it just doesn't matter anymore if it's both sides or half. All this aside, you won't know what choices you have personally until you see a dentist. Then you can look over all the options and choose which works best for you. An uncomplicated removal, for a tooth without roots into the jawbone, can be done easy with the usual local anesthetic- and is the easiest to recover from. One that is infected or impacted can be removed with just a local, but it's not something most folks enjoy being awake and aware of. There is also valium sedation, combined with nitrous oxide, which puts you in lala land where you don't care- but you are conscious and will follow directions. You won't remember much though, and you won't have any pain. Whatever you chose to do, dentists are usually pretty sensitive about causing pain and working with you to make the procedure as easy as they can. So don't put it off too long, and talk with the dentist before settling on exactly how you like it done.

I have heard many people explain the pain of getting wisdom teeth pull... but a feeling like weed? No! Make sure they pull all 4 at the same time, they are going to knock you out, you'll wake up feeling like you drank 20 beers. You'll be bleeding and stuff with gauze. They give you something for the pain, and within a few days you'll be feeling fine again.

When I got mine pulled I had IV sedation and it was great. They put me completely to sleep and I didnt feel a thing. It was quite painful afterwards but as long as you take the med that they give you and dont drink out of straws, or smoke, you should heal quickly.

No it didn't hurt because they give you something that will put you to sleep. You'll wake up later and everything will be done. You might be sore and swollen for a couple of days afterwards but they will give you pain killer for that. I have all 4 pulled out onces plus two baby teeth underneath my gums that never grew out . . . I was fine after a couple of days and was not under a lot of pain. I didn't even need to take pain killers. You'll just have to eat liquid food for a week or two. You'll be fine.

No pain during surgery because you asleep.

They give you some Oxycodone or Vicoden afterwards.

You take those Daily cuz your mouth will hurt like a mofo if you don't

The meds make you a bit light headed, not really high like weed.

But you can sell those pills if you don't use them all

I had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled and the pain was horrible. However, my teeth were impacted, meaning they come all the way through. I had to be put to sleep and the pain afterwards was really bad for a day or so. Eventually, it healed perfectly.

As everyone else has mentioned, they'll anaesthetise you one way or another, so the surgery will be a piece of cake. My oral surgeon gave me steroids to take a couple days before to speed healing after the surgery. After the surgery, take the anti-inflammatories and pain killers they give you (I had to write down when to take mine because I was so whacked out on the 'scripts) and DO NOT SMOKE or use a straw. The sucking action upsets the clots and you will end up with such horrible pain that you'll wish you just had your wisdom teeth back. So don't do that. I did that. Don't do that. It was very, very painful. But, Josh B, if you're Josh Beckett, I'll come over and take care of you.

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed at one time. I was not going back so I got them all removed at once. You should request being put under anesthesia. I sure as Hell did not want to know what was going on during the procedure. When you wake up you will feel very drowsy and may get emotional. There will be stitches where the teeth were pulled and you will probably have them removed in a week or 2. The doctor may give you a prescription for a pain killer, but over the counter pain killer like Tylenol or Advil will probably be fine. Everyone is different when it comes to the pain after tooth extraction. The first day or 2 or 3 you may only be able to eat soft food and/or liquids, but once it starts to heal you should be able to eat regularly. After about a week the stitches will probably start to get annoying. You will be playing with them with your tongue.

Good Luck!

let them put you on drugs

I've had oral surgery 2 times. When I went in for my wisdom teeth they did the surgery while I was asleep. During the surgery you won't feel anything. The first day your face is going to be numb for a very long time. After that it will hurt. Not always but there will be pain. When you wake up you will feel really confused and you feel like you only went to sleep a few minutes ago when really you slept for about an hour. You feel kind of loopy afterwards. I don't know what weed high feels like so I can't really tell you. It all depends on the person for the healing process. It took my a full seven days but I know other people who have healed faster than that. Good luck!
