How much pain is there with one small dental implant?!

Question:

How much pain is there with one small dental implant?

What's it like to get a single implant, and how does it feel afterwards....how much pain....what was it equal to, did it get infected later, or now, how long has it lasted, and what's your age? I'm fairly young to get an implant, 36, and very afraid to do it, but I need one. Please no answers from dental professionals, personal experience only. It's really strange, there are no dental implant disscussion boards on the internet!

Answers:

Well, it depends where it is. I am not yet an adult, so this is for teen mouths. My experience is that if it is in the back, like a molar, the novacain doesn't hurt if you focus on the dentist or something else (just like a shot in the sholder). It does hurt, however, if you get a tooth drilled without novacain, so I would suggest asking for it if it is in the back. If you are getting it in the front, be prepared. There are a lot of nerves in the front roof of your mouth, so it hurts when they put the shot in there. I had to get a canine tooth removed so that is how I know. As for afterwards, it hurts, of course it would. Try and eat as much food as you can before the novacain wears off! Just be aware of what you are eating and where in your mouth you are chewing it up. Most likely, later in the day, you won't want to eat much. Noodles, J-ello, pudding, those are all good soft foods you would want to eat. Don't try eating carrots or eggplant, that wouldn't be good.
Those are my tips, if you have any other questions, I would ask your dentist! They would know best!
Also, it just feels like a bit of pressure once the novacain kicks in!
