Filling in molar...?!

Question:

Filling in molar...?

I am getting a filling in my molar tooth and my brother said the dentist will put a needle in my gum to numb it this caused me to panic so i walked out of the dentist (please dont judge im not a baby) i just cant stand the thought so i rebooked the appointment and really have to go through with it.....does it really hurt? and how bad? will the numbing help?

This is my first ever filling before this i always thought i had good teeth, how will a filling effect me?

Answers:

Having needles and other sharp objects in your mouth can be scary but it doesn't need to be. The best thing you can do is tell your dentist that you are nervous and they will help you throught the procedure. Make sure you keep your eyes closed, there is nothing worse than seeing a needle came at you from a great height. Take a stress ball or simillir and roll it around in your hands it keeps your mind if what the dentist is doing.

The needle itself is not painful, first a blob n numbing gel will be placed on the surface of the gum so you don't feel the prick and then all you will feel is pressure and light stinging. Once you are numb you shouldn't feel anything and if you do stop the dentist and he will give another injection.

These days most fillings are tooth coloured and cannot be seen.
