Braces! Help!?!

Question: I just got braces yesterday, and they feel really weird, and you know when you swallow and you sometimes thrust your tongue or when you yawn and stretch your mouth, I did that earlier and it felt really weird like the little things they attached to my teeth with glue detached, but when I looked in the mirror they didn't move or anything... Is this normal???

& how do you floss, are you supposed to or no? they gave me the little things that look like pipe cleaners, to clean in between the braces but they never said anything about flossing, and there was nothing in the booklet..

lol i'm getting mine off on valentines day :] but all these
things your feeling are normal. just wait until you get the
expander. haha its just because your not used to it but
after awhile you wont notice. pain is still gonna be there
once in a while.

the expander is gonna feel twice as wierd because it
takes up most of the space at the top of your mouth
so when you eat or swallow you tend to use the top of
your mouth and tongue but you wont be able to. its just
another wierd thing that they have to put in your mouth
and i hated it but eventually everything wont even be
noticeable to you.

Best bet is to get a water pique!!

ya its normal and you just use the christmas tree/ tube cleanor thing for floss or get a water pick

you can buy floss threaders. i never flossed for the year and two months i had braces and i have no cavities to this day.
and dont worry about them falling off, they wont unless you bite down really hard on a hard food.
it will take a few days, perhaps a little longer for braces to start to feel normal. give it time.
dont hesitate to call your orthodontist and ask questions as well.

wow.. you need to chill.

Pains, or feeling weird, with braces are normal. You will get used to the new feeling of metal in your mouth. You are allowed to floss because those little brackets are glued on tight. If you do not feel comfortable flossing, use the pipe cleaners.

it's probably just getting adjusted to your braces, the weird feelings will eventually go away. if they don't call your ortho.

as for flossing, they sell floss threaders at some stores where you pull the floss through the loop, pull the threader under your wire, and pull the floss out/

ughh. braces are torture. I had braces for 6 years! It takes about a month to get used to them. The little pipe cleaner things are about the only way that you can floss. Glue should be coming off your teeth for about a week after too! Good Luck! Hope you don't have them as long as me!

lol ur like my twin thats exactly how i felt about a year ago! yeah flossing is super hard but you should still do it. basically thread the floss under the wire and through you teeth...it's awkward but it works. use the "pipe cleaners" too they work good for little chunks of food. yes, i know they are frustrating but i'm about to get mine off so they are defiantely worth it! good luck :) hope this helps

yes everything is normal (it felt the same way when i got them)

u tie your floss around a little needle like thing (they give u some) and u stick the needle thing in between you wires and floss normally

That's normal for them to feel odd, remember none of this stuff was in your mouth before. As for flossing use the little pipe cleaner things. The thing to widen your upper jaw is a palatal expander, i had one it's kind of annoying but not very painful
