Could this be a cavity?!

Question: There's a dark brown spot in the crevasse of my back tooth. It's been there for a while and when I brush it or poke at it, it doesn't hurt. It's not very big but I notice when I floss and brush my teeth.

I just want to know if it's something I should worry about...could it be a stain? I've never had a cavity before so I'm not sure what it is.

If it is not giving you any pain, it probably is not a cavity. Usually you will feel pain with eating sugar on that tooth. I suggest you eat a piece of candy on that tooth then see if it hurts. (Seriously, I know it sounds crazy but that is how you know if you have a cavity, or at least how I always knew!)
It could be a stain, but are you due for a cleaning? Good time to go make that appointment and find out what it is!

Go see a dentist

Go seea dentist and probably it is...a starting of one....thats how mine sounded!

heres the answer..... all of us have grooves on our teeth.some are naturally stained dark. to figure out if you have a cavity, the dentist uses an instrument called an explorer. if this explorer detects a sticky feeling in the tooth, it is a cavity.if no stick, you are ok. so go see your dentist and give him or her a hug!

Usually at dark or brown spot indications infection inside,
So you can have a closed tooth and it being infected also.
i had a cracked crown and it was fixed and then it got infected.
plan on having the tooth pulled and look into dental implants as they are exepnsive but well worth it for the longrun.
and no more costs for you in the future also Smiles, LP
