The reason people gave you mixed answers is because some of the bands will hurt to remove and others won't. It depends. You'll probably be sore a few days after the bads are removed also. It's very similar to the pain you felt when you first got your braces....except now you have already dealt with that and know what it felt like, so you can deal with it now.

How the bands are removed is the dentist will use a tool to apply force to break the bond of the cement. The cement is made to break with the right force (did you ever accidentally break something on your braces? then you know this already).

Ways to deal with the pain (if there is any): 1) take Advil/Motrin (ibuprofen) before your appointment and after
2)eat softer foods until the teeth and gums stop being sore
3) ask the dentist what to expect....fear of the whole thing is worse than the actual thing (trust me, it's true)
Best of luck and don't be too scared.......you'll get through it and trust me, you've already been through the worst by even having braces on already.

He would just take the band out..not ur molar.
I got it done too...dont worry..its cool.

I didnt even realise , the whole thing came off very quickly.
