I Want My Teeth Fixed, What Are My Options?!

Question: When I was younger I didn't really have any cares about my smile, but I've turned 18 and unfortunely my self appearance has really hit me. Since my teeth have always had extreme crowding I gave up a long time ago when it comes to proper care for them. Money has always been tight, so I've had maybe 5 or so dental appointments. I'd really love to give modeling a shot, but I feel that my teeth will keep me from taking that route.

My question is, what options do I have when it comes to having my teeth fixed? Braces, Invisalign, Veneers? Cost, Insurance, Payment Plans? Any help is appreciated.

Most offices offer dental payment plans such as CareCredit or Unicorn that offer 1 year no interest as long as you put at least $300 on it. Just be sure to pay it off within 1 year or they hit you with interest or get a bank loan. Dental insurance isn't usually worth what you pay for it, for single people anyways. But, if you are interested in it, check the monthly premium total for 12 months against the yearly maximum. Also, make sure there are no waiting periods on work. The first step is to get a cleaning and checkup to see if the teeth have good bone or if too much bone loss has occured because the teeth have not been cleaned. Next, if the bone is fine, the best option is probably braces b/c this will straighten the teeth and help prevent future oral hygiene and bone loss problems. You may need to have some of your teeth fixed first to make sure they will be strong enough to withstand braces. Veneers would fix it but only temporarily. In my experience, veneers usually need replacement after 5-15 years. Invisalign is expensive and time consuming. Find a dentist with a good dental hygienist/hygiene team and ask what they recommend/ what orthodontist they recommend.

Veneers is a best bet for modeling, since they are so perfect and white, but they are very expensive (and I want to take a shot at acting..and I fear my teeth with drag me down too..)

Braces will also help overcrowding, but they are pretty expensive too. I'm not too sure about payment plans, but I'm going to watch this question to see if I can take any advice on it!! :)
