I am presently working on several cases such as yours. If a person has had to have other teeth extracted, especially if it is a first molar that has been lost, if the wisdom teeth are healthy, it is possible to use it as part of the orthodontic treatment. All the molars would be advanced to close that space.

However, and this will answer your question regarding not utilizing the wisdom tooth now, orthodontics is done in stages. If you have crowding and rotations in your other teeth, this needs to be corrected before you close spaces. After all, you need to know just how much space to close.

Another reason that the wisdom tooth hasn't been banded yet, there may still be difficult access to it. If it is not possible to keep the area dry, we can't bond to it, and if it's not fully erupted, we can't band it. Possibly, the molar in front has to be moved forward a bit and then the wisdom tooth will be more accessible.

This is just an educated guess as to the sequence of your treatment plan based on the ones I have done that are similar.

Honestly, just give it time. Trust that the orthodontist is monitoring your case properly. You can always ask next visit when you think the wisdom tooth will be banded or bracketed. This would put your mind at ease.

in general we used to extract all wisdoms before orthodontic treatment............
but in your case and as u said that the doctor wants to pull the wisdom forward... i'll not go in that, but ur teeth x-ray and the entraoral examination tell every thing...
i advice u just to go on with ur doctor, he knows more about u..
wish u the best
