Well, gingivitis comes more after a long-term session of no teeth-brushing (i.e. 2 weeks or more). Signs of gingivitis are inflamed (swollen and red) gums which bleed very easily, as well as a large accumulation of plaque that will not get off your teeth. I've never had it, so i don't know what it feels like, but because you haven't brushed for around 2 days, you're fine. I recommend you just try to rinse out your mouth with alcohol-free mouthwash as your densist told you; if it hurts, spit it out and the pain will go away just about instantly! As for seeing your stitches... rinse your mouth away from a mirror if you think you'll see them.
But yeah..gingivitis happens after a longer period of time of no brushing than 2-3 days... try rinsing your mouth!
But if you REALLLLLLY don't want to use the mouthwash, then you should just swish water around your mouth every night and morning (and afternoon too)...the water eliminated a lot of the food that might be stuck on your teeth.

i hope this helps!!!!

signs of gingivitis is bleeding gums but it won't happen if you skip just a day of brushing, call your dentist, see what they say.

Red, swollen bleeding gums - gingivitis. You won't get it in three days. The alcohol free mouth wash won't hurt.

Quit being a big baby and brush you damn teeth!!!

just try brushing your teeth...if it hurts then stop. i would consult your dentist about it too.

I don't think that you're going to get gingivitis right away. I mean maybe if you go weeks with out brushing them then yeah problay so. But two days isn't so bad. Hope your mouth is better :)

look up gingivitis on a search engine.
nothing bad will happen to you if you brush you teeth, you need to think positive. just try a little bit, be gentle. you dont no how its goin to feel until you try it.

gd luck & get better

tas x

just brush them lightly rinse with some listerine. just giv'er

Ok, gingivitis does not come on that quickly but you do want to clean your teeth the best you can. Brush where you can (away from the stitches) and then flush your mouth with mouth wash. It may sting a bit... but it is very very important to make sure that your wound is clean... right now your biggest worry is an infection from not cleaning it properly. It will also make you feel better. Use the tooth brush on your tongue to get rid of some of the buildup (it will do wonders for that nasty taist in your mouth just dont touch the area around the stitches). Good Luck and feel better!!!

wow.. just ask your dentist. I suggest using Witch Hasle.. It sold in any drug store.. its mostely used for itch relief but i found that it also works with cleaning teeth. :) Enjoy

if you normally practice good oral hygiene, a couple days off will not hurt. laying off candy and pop will lessen the bacteria growth in the meantime. gingivitis takes much longer than the time it will take for your mouth to heal. maybe purchase a small babies tooth brush to brush the teeth that are away from your stitches and just use water. this will at least remove the plaque

it takes a long time before any problems start. no worry for a day or two

use the alcohol free mouthwash, don't brush them- and don't worry about gingivitis. Just remember your mouth only has to feel disgusting until you heal. don't do anything to slow the healing process. It takes a long time to get gingivitis. So basically just use the mouthwash and deal with it, as bad as it may be, it will all work out in the end. Feel better soon!

first ? did the dentist say when you could start brushing again?if not, call his office and ask.
2nd? if the dentist still does not want you to brush, ask if you can use a water pik/this sprays water onto the teeth and gums to clean them. it does not take the place of brushing, but aids in loosening up buildup on the teeth. it has different settings for soft up to a hard pulse of water. look in the toothbrush isle. there are many brands on the market now. but call first for instructions from your dentist.

lol you are so funny. I know it doesn't taste great but rinse with some warm salt water, It will cut down on possibility of infection and help you to heal quicker. Mouthwash is ok too. just don't swish too hard (with either one) or create a suction as it could dislodge the clot. but it has almost been long enough for that not to be an issue. LOL I'm still laughing.
Go rinse your mouth ! feel better.
