I would agree with simplyna, BUT You might have a really hard piece of tissue there, or you might have gotten something hard stuckin the socket where the tooth was (like a piece of food). Your best bet is to ask the dentist. If something is in there, it's going to get really sore and irritated. I feel for you. My experience with extraction was fairly miserable. Good luck.
