No, trust me it isn't as bad as you think it is. Sure, your mouth is a bit sore at first but you get used to it after awhile and then it doesn't hurt. The best part is getting to choose different colors. (I sound like I'm five don't I?) lol No I'm 17 and I'm getting mine off soon! Good luck, and take some aspirin or tylenol before you go.

No, I had braces - hated them at the time but now i'm chuffed with my straight, pearly whites!!

no....

after a few days there not sore and they suit most people

<3......xx

No its only for a little while.
I`m nearly 30, and I`m due to get my braces off soon. I wish I had it done when I was younger, so if you are young, you are lucky that you dont have to get them at my age!

it depends on the person...some of my friends really didnt care about braces, i mean they didnt necessarily like them but they werent ina hurry to get them off
i, on the otherhand absolutely hated them! i jsut didnt like the way they looked on me. (i have really small teeth compared to alot of people so i felt liek they covered up my whole teeth when i had them) but others look prettygood with them on..
yeah theres a bit of pain, but pop some advil/tylenol and youll be fine...getting used to eating brushing and flossing is annoying but you get used to it over time
everything seems liek a really big deal at first when you have to try something new with braces...but you will get used to it and within a while youll become an expert!
overall though, i am so glad that i ahve had them and now i have perfect teeth to show off for my 1 1/2 yrs. that i had them!!!

I've had braces for 3 days. I haven't had too much pain, its more like comfortable pressure.
By the second day I was chewing pretty well, only on my back molars though. My front teeth are still pretty sensitive.
The wax they give you to put over the brackets is amazing. My braces feel so rough on the inside of my cheeks :[

When you first get them on, it'll be painful to chew. Even soft things like bananas will hurt to eat. You can ask the orthodontist what medicine he/she recommends you take (Advil or Tylenol works good usually) to help with the pain.
After a few days, your teeth and jaws will hurt less.
There is also some new things you will have to learn about how to brush and floss with the braces on and also which foods are risky to eat. (Very very hard foods can break the braces, but if you're really really careful, you can sometimes eat them.) You might also have to wear rubber bands on the teeth or have other devices that need special care--the orthodontist will explain everything to you.
Whenever you go to the orthodontist and he adjusts the teeth, you'll feel kinda sore after, but it won't be as bad as when you first got the braces. (Even if it hurts alot, you will know how to deal with it and what to do.)
Maybe buy yourself something special to cheer yourself up.....or tell your family or friends that you're worried about it and see what ideas they have to make braces more fun.

when you first get them its uncomfortable but different in all people, also depends on the type of brace you get. Train tracks aren't too bad, you just have to get used to them, retainer hurts if you leave it out too long!

NO NOT AT ALL!!!!!!! I've had braces for a week and they only hurt the first day. I mean I wanted braces! Almost all the people with braces look really good. Look on the bright side! You'll have pearly white perfect teeth and come on. BLING ON YOUR TEETH????? AWESOME!!!!!! so if you dont just be all mad about it then It'll be fantastic.

Yes and no. It does hurt but not enough to make you cry. After braces are put on you feel fine for about an hour. Then they start pulling at your teeth causing pain. After a few days the pain/ sensitvity goes away. Then every time you have an adjustment at the orthodontist office it will hurt again for a few days after. You just learn to deal with it.

no its not that bad. and just think about it this way "when its done with your teeth are going to look great" :)

No, it's fine, I have traintrack braces and they ache a little bit when they're adjusted but it goes away after a day or so, it's about the same pain level as a headache for me.

If you don't like how they look and are paying for the braces (i.e. not getting them free on the NHS in Britain) you can ask for white braces, I had them to start with and they're almost unnoticable, I could see them really obviously and I thought everyone else could too but then when I mentioned them people were like - What? You have braces?! I guess people are rather unobservant!

Only disadvantage with white brackets is they don't stick to some people's teeth as well as metal ones and mine kept popping off, which is annoying cos the glue they use to put them on tastes gross. So now I have metal braces instead but it's fine and my teeth look great.

Top tips for having them fitted: Put lip balm on before you go to have them put on cos they stretch your lips around as they look in your mouth and it hurts if you have cracked lips! And ask to rinse after they've finished so you can get rid of the icky glue taste!

No. Orthodontic treatment will straighten the teeth or move them into a better position. This can not only improve their appearance but also the way the teeth bite together, while also making them easier to clean.Try out http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/ for more details.

No, they are a good idea. I know as a kid you might feel a little concerned about it and what your peers might think. There will be many kidss that wear them, but more important when you are older your will please to have trouble free straight teeth. All the best NN
