How can you make flossing easier with braces?!

Question: It honestly takes me 20 minutes to floss my teeth, and therefore it doesn't get done very often. Is flossing even important, and is there an easier way to floss with braces as oppose to flosss threaders?

Have you considered trying a Water Pic. It's a device that shoots out strong burst of water to flush out debris between teeth. It may be just what you need!

Oh, and YES, flossing is very important to the long term health of your gums!

Good luck!

i used to have braces, and i know all about the 20 minutes it takes to floss, its so annoying!!!
although youre going to hate it:
practice makes perfect!!!
i cant express to you how true this si for flossing with braces, you just do it everyday and yes, within a week youll start getting faster. its annoying and it "wastes" time, but you gotta do it!
i also found that a brand of floss called superfloss worked very well for me...you can get it at a drugstore
and what it is, is a single piece of floss (unlike the original method my ortho showed me, which invovled a piece of regular floss and the floss threader) i found that using one single piece of floss helped me to floss better and more quickly..
its exactly like regular floss except about 2 inches at one end of it is a bit thicker and tougher so that you can get it under your wires (ecspeciially on the bottom row) and easilythrough you teeth to floss
i highly recommend trying it, once i tried it, it was all that i used to floss!

Yeah, flossing with braces is really annoying. But you have to do it, because it's alot harder to keep the teeth clean with braces and the floss makes sure your gums and spots between the teeth stay clean.
The floss threaders are the only option, but I noticed when I had braces if you try out a few different kinds of floss brands, you will find a nice one you like. My favorite was called Glide, and it slides through the teeth very nicely. You can also ask your orthodontist about which type of floss threader works the best. Some are like soft needles and flop around in a really annoying way--avoid these, look for a floss threader that is firmer and see if you like that better.
One more thing: when you get the braces off......it'll be so much fun to floss--will take about 1 minute! ;-)

I am in Dental Hygiene school and we would recommend superfloss also..You may also want to consider a power tootbrush and the small interdental brushes (resemble X-mas trees)..Also be sure to visit your hygientist 2x a year for regular cleanings!!

Lol, been there, done that.

It's a pain in the rear isn't it? Unfortunantley, flossing is an extremley important part of your oral hygene and must be done.

I can't really tell you how to make it easier but I stopped using floss threaders because I found they took be longer, I only used them on my back teeth.

When flossing try listening to an iPod/mp3, the radio, or some music to keep you entertained. I found that made it alot less boring.

xD Best I got.

Are you using those annoying blue floss threaders? I hate those. Something better is oral-b threaders OR Crest Glide threader floss. What it is is a piece of floss with a built-in threader end (stiff end) that you just pull right through the braces. It is as quick as using regular floss. Go to the floss aisle and buy it.

u can buy some floss threaders at walmart or any other store..
those help a lot!
