If you tooth gets chipped and there is pain does that mean you have a root canal!
Question:
If you tooth gets chipped and there is pain does that mean you have a root canal?
Answers:
Depends on the type of pain.
Pulpal pain: usually dull aching throbbing pain associated with the infection and/or death of the nerve = root canal
Dentinal pain: exposed vital tooth structure containing nerve fibers resulting in sharp shooting pain of brief duration = no root canal and can be fixed with either crown (cap) or just a simple bonding.
