Glad to see this question - my daughter is scheduled to leave for camp the morning after getting her braces on.
Odds are good you won't have any problems. Be sure to pay attention when your orthodontist reviews do's (how to brush, how to wear, position, and clean any removeable appliances) and don'ts (soda, gum, etc). Ask what to do if something is irritating your mouth (he may have wax for you to carry to smooth over any bumps). Take the office phone number with you, so you can call in if you are having problems (minor gum bleeding or mouth irritation) and get their advice.
Be sure to have some ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) available. If your mouth or head aches, it will be nice to get some relief!
