Getting wisdom teeth removed?!

Question: Could people share their experiences?

Answers: Could people share their experiences?

The dentist said they had to go. I made an appointment with the orthodontist. I got a shot and some gas, woke up later, paid, and left. It was sore for awhile, but he gave me something to take for the pain. I kept it clean as instructed, went back for a followup exam, and that was that. No biggie. Some discomfort, but nothing like the horror stories you hear about. I think half of those are people who exaggerate for the attention.

Mine are coming out on feb 21st - I have got infected 3 times and it is killing me!!!!

Hurts for a while but after it is done it is way better, your mouth isnt so stiff and it feels like you have a new mouth

Yeah I got dry socket... it really hurt. They packed the woud with a numbing cloth (i guess?) and it helped A LOT. Of course it was completely worth it and you'll manage! You'll look like a chipmonk for a few days but hey you gotta do what you gotta do.

BTW girl under me.. what's friend chicken?

mine was pretty much painless. the second day after my surgury i was eating friend chicken. it's nothing to get upset over. it's an easy operation. you will be fine. =]

i had no problems at all, and i even had a horrbily abcessed tooth on the right side. i was put completely out (sometimes your only numbed) and i dont remember much at all. it was about 4 years ago, i woke up swollen obviously, but i followed directions from my doctor and i was eating regularly the next day, no pain!

As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, your ready to have a good wisdom teeth pulled out procedure. Wont hurt as much. Plus, if your teeth are straight, they are much easier to pull out.ADDITIONAL INFO= Hey, tell the doc to numb your mouth more, that should help, and good luck

I had mine removed. They didnt put me to sleep (couldnt get a vain) but it wasnt so bad with the gas. The few days after sucked. Just remember to take your meds because getting an infection SUCKS!!! :) And rinse with warm water and salt, it helps, but tastes like crap.

I GOT ALL OF MY 4 WISDOM TEETH PULLED OUT ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO. THEY HADN'T EVEN CAME OUT YET AND THEY GOT PULLED OUT. THEY PUT MY MOUTH TO SLEEP AND CUT THROUGH MY GUMS AND CHEEK TO PULL THEM OUT. IT DIDNT HURT AT ALL. IN ABOUT 2-3 DAYS YOUR BE FINE. YOU PROBABLY WONT BE ABLE TO OPEN UP YOUR MOUTH ALOT THOUGH BECAUSE OF THE STICHES.

I got all 4 of mine removed several years ago. I was put under general anesthesia and it was strange how quickly the anesthesia takes effect. When I came to, I felt no pain, but I was VERY groggy and weak. I had a whole bunch of cotton in my mouth and every minute or so I had to spit so as not to swallow too much blood. I know that's gross, but it's what you can expect. Also, the dentist is going to give you a plastic syringe to use after each time you eat. It's important to clean out the space in your gums where your teeth used to be. Otherwise food can get stuck in there and if it stays there after your gums have healed, it'll create an infection and that won't be pretty or painless.

it may hurt only the 1st day they are remmoved...
then you can smile about it.. : D

You should be fine.
I would suggest being put to sleep using IV sedation though. It is a much more comfortable process. Less pain. One needle for the IV instead of 5 or so shots per tooth!

Make sure when done with the surgery that you leave the guaze in for 4-6 hrs. Change it if necessary after that.
NO straws!
NO spitting!
NO smoking!
NO alcohol!
NO carbonated beverages!
FOR 48 HOURS!!
Following those rules will HELP prevent dry sockets.
Also 24 hrs after surgery start a warm salt water rinse and it will help heal and soothe the area.

I see about 40-50 extractions in one day and no one leaves in excurating pain. usually they are happy to have the tooth gone.
But like I said, choose IV Sedation if possible.
