I just got braces a day ago, and trust me, the pain is nowhere near giving birth. The procedure took like an hour and I was not sleeping while the orthodontist put them on. I didn't feel any pain at all while the orthodontist put the braces on. Now a day later my mouth feels sore and it hurts to eat solid food. The pain only lasts about a week or so, then you get used to having braces. Don't worry, the pain doesn't make you cry.

yeah he put me asleep and when its over your mouth might feel different but thats it

There's definite slight pain at first, but you adjust. I recommend some aleve (and since I was of legal age, a couple of beers helped). They make your teeth sensitive after they're re-adjusted and you'll need to live off soft foods for the evening: mashed potatoes or chicken broth with plenty of oyster crackers were my usuals.

It's really not so bad. And based on the look on my wife's face during the hours, it is no where NEAR the pain of childbirth.

mine didnt even hurt at all.
they were always a little sore after i got them tightened.
but i took advil before i went and ate soft food after and i was fine :)
i have never heard of anyone crying or yelling because they got braces on.

they're not that bad. More "uncomfortable" than painful.
Not like sharp pain, more like sore and uncomfortable.
But everyone is different. I just took Tylenol and was ok
after each adjustment. No big deal. Some people get
hysterical over nothing though, bunch of drama queens.
I think they just want sympathy. They don't put you to sleep,
they just put adhesive on them and put them in place!

ur mouth hurts a lot (for some people) the first days and u feel like eating nothing. but after like 5 days it doesnt hurt at all..when u get them tightened then it hurts (sometimes) again for a few days
