I think i have gingivitis?!

Question:

I think i have gingivitis?

i haven't been flossing for awhile..but i always brush twice a day. i know i made a mistake. i was looking at pics of gingivitis and um i think i have it. my gums are bleeding. i've noticed my gums have moved up or whatever and the tiniest un noticable gaps are starting. its not a gap yet. but you know how when you floss its a tight between the teeth? yeah not anymore on some of them. i don't have insurance. and i know my parent's won't take me seriously! so what can i do to save my teeth? i swear i'll floss every day from now on.

Answers:

warm saltwater helps take the swelling down. mix one teaspoon of salt in 4 oz. of water, and gargle and swish before you brush. If your are a female, sometimes your monthly cycle can also make your gums swollen. This is normal. And yes, you do need to see a dentist on a regular basis. If you don't have insurance, please contact your local social services for help. They know low cost dentists that would be willing to see you and help you through your fears. Bad dental hygiene can lead to more problems other that gingivitis. But until you can see a dentist, make sure you are brushing with a good toothpaste, not cheap stuff from the dollar store. The dollar store toothpaste is not regulated by the government, and can do more harm than good. Brush two times a day, or more if possible. No soda or juice, or if you do drink those two things, make sure you have a straw, and swallow quickly. Don't forget to brush your tongue also, as alot of bacteria grows there as well. You also could be stressing so much you are grinding your teeth at night, which would cause them to be sensitive and feel loose. A night guard through a dentist will help with that. Good luck to you.
