Meat after getting wisdom teeth pulled?!

Question: I just had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and I am so sick of pudding, I just ate a cold hot dog.

I relize im not supposed to have hot food yet and was wondering if it was o.k. to get a couplde of double cheese burgers from mcdonalds and let them cool off before eating. im breaking them up into very small pieces and chew with front teeth only. Im thinking I should avoid mustard becuase that kinda hurts on open wounds

If you are in the mood to eat food, then just about anything you can get in you is fine. You obviously want to avoid doing a lot of chewing on the extraction sites, but other than that, if you can get it in you and down, all the more power to you. Be sure you rinse your mouth out well afterwards though. Hot or cold doesn't really matter at this point. They recommend cold and soft foods because most folks have very tender mouths and a fair amount of swelling after the extraction, and cold helps with that. I guess you must have been fortunate with yours and aren't having much pain or swelling. So whatever you can get in you is just fine. It's the chewing that will be tough. Just remember you can't drink from a straw though. As far as foods to avoid, well- salt isn't going to feel good either, nor will a lot of the spices, and ketchup may burn as well. But even they won't necessarily do anything to you, aside from cause discomfort. And I wouldn't recommend popcorn just yet. Other than that, if it sounds good, give it a try.

Yeah, avoid the mustard. And be sure to eat those things SLOWLY and ONLY with the front teeth. After you done, be sure to rinse your mouth out and do not let any food sit on top of the sutured area.

I would not suggest that you eat that just yet. Try a soup or
jell-o. They are better choices.

The day I had my four wisdom teeth pulled I was so hungry. I made my husband bring me to Ryans and I ate fried chicken. I chewed it with my front teeth and I had no problems. My husband just laughed at me because I looked silly from all the medications that they used to put me to sleep and trying to chew with my front teeth. A year later he had his wisdom teeth removed too. We went back to the same place to eat, just after the procedure. He was too afraid to eat the fried chicken, but he ate the mashed potatoes. If you're hungry, eat. Just be careful. 2D

You'd have to be really careful not to get any foods caught in your stitches...it would be hard to get out of there.

If you do it, you'll have to spray your mouth really well to get the food out of your sore gums.

Be careful!

I wouldn't recommend it. When I had mine out, I carefully tried to eat a burrito; but one of my stitches came loose, and I had to go back into the dentist and listen to him chew me out. If you're going to, be REALLY careful. Also, if it's too warm, it'll open up your sores and they'll start bleeding again. Just be slow and take it easy on the chewing.

They should've given you a syringe to squirt out debris. After one day I was eating normal meals and simply cleaning the wounds afterwards. That process went on for about 3 weeks sorry to say.

If you still *just* had it done...try warm Spaghetti-O's. If it's been a few days, I suppose you could try it, but just be careful.

I ate solid foods the day that I had mine taken out (all 4 the same day). As with you, I decided to eat a hotdog.

If you're hungy and not in too much pain, there is nothing wrong with trying to eat solid food. As you stated, try to use your front teeth to chew. Drink plenty of water... avoid straws. Rinse your mouth out when you're done and you'll be fine.

Good luck while you heal!

uh,if ya jus got it done ta day, I would say NO NO, wait a day or two, then do it like u said. Don't ever chew with yo front teeh, they will wear down quickly, I ended up havin ta have bonding done because of it, but u would have ta do this for quite some time. I wore them down because I had no wisdom teeth and used my front teeth ta chew with. Justa helpful hint!
