Can you get cavities on top of sealant? I sure hope not. If you can, does getting a cavity filled hurt?

Answers:

How long have you had this sealant? If it's been a long time, the edges of it will wear away and it is possible to get decay at the edge and underneath. It could be staining, if you drink alot of coffee, tea or if you smoke. But the only way to know for certain is to have an xray taken. A sealant in and of itself cannot get decay, it's not organic material, just a resin. I have seen staining on the perimeter of sealants before, but as I said there is no other way to be certain outside of getting an xray. Good luck.
