Sensitive Tooth?!

Question:

Sensitive Tooth?

Why do we get sensitive teeth? I got one and it really hurts when I drink my coffee in the morning :( will sensodyne tooth paste help or do I need a dentist?

Answers:

I have sensitive teeth. They are caused by decay (cavities) which opens the nerve endings. When you eat or drink something hot or cold, these nerve endings (which are very sensitive) feel it more than normal as they are exposed. Toothpastes such as sensodyne can work but you have to use them all the time & cant change to another type of toothpaste even once cause the effects are temporary. What these toothpastes do is temporarily deaden the nerve endings so they cant feel the extreme heat or cold as much. Go to the dentist, but keep in mind that even if (s)he puts fillings in, your teeth might still be sensitive. (mine are) Brush your teeth at LEAST twice a day and floss as well. Also, at least until the sensitivity goes down, try to stay away from extreme hot or cold foods. (No ice in your drinks, let your coffee cool down a bit before drinking it, etc.)
