Im getting BRACES does it HURT really BAD?!

Yes. They Hurt... But Not The point of crying. BELIEVE ME, I am A HUGE Wimp, but when they get tightened, i just take ibuprofen, it really helps. =)
Sometimes your teeth may become sensitive to touch, sometimes they feel really weird to your tongue, but they never HURT. You may feel slight stinging when they're being implemented, but a needle hurts more.
i guess it depends on what they do to your mouth exactly.... some people have it tighter than others....
when you first get braces, you have to get used to the things in your mouth and will feel a bit sore for the few 3-5 days.... then you get used to it. you are supposed to get them tightened every 6 weeks, and after that it is sore for around 2 days.... i have had braces for a year and a half and you get used to it after a while.... it's no big deal and you get a great smile! it's a lot easier to get on than off!
when i first got them, i took some Ibuprofen to ease the pain... taking a pill or two helps at first but don't overdo it.
PROCESS: Okay, like you, when I got braces i was SO SCARED!! No needles are involved, basically you 1st get spacers [little rubber bands put between to teeth to make room for bigger metal bands]. Then after a week, you come back, they take them out and they put metal bands [like metal thin circles] around your back teeth. They glue the metal squres part on one by on ea. tooth and use a ligh to dry it. Then they press a wire into the little metal pieces [theirs a line sperating the metal square so the wire fits perfectly onto the metal squares ea. on your teeth. Then they thread it through the back metal bands and bend it and cut it w/ a cotten swab near your gum so u dont get hurt. Then you pick out colors and they wrap them aroun ea. square.
Tightening: Hurts for only about a day, but NOT bad! Just take tyleol gl!
Okay. At first, you wont feel much, it will just feel weird.
Then it kind of hurts, it's sort of a tingling, painful feeling, but it goes away after a couple days. I couldnt stand it, but it wasnt too bad.
Yes, sometimes it hurts when they tighten them. Chains and rubber bands are the worst, but you dont get those until later.
My biggest problem was that one tooth would get sensitive, and when they were switching out my rubber bands, they would press on the sensitive tooth, and it would hurt me.
Taking them off doesnt hurt at all, I thought it would, but it didnt. Retainers are bad though, I am terrible at wearing mine, because it hurts.
Overall, the pain isnt that bad. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll be fine.
i passed out the damn things hurt so bad, when you leave make sure you pack a nice lip of Skoal!
Hm... well it is painful, but you could live with it..
when you first have them on, and when you have them tightened, your teeth would feel like its not in place properly, and you could sort of feel it move if you eat something thats hard.
so avoid all the hard chewy food, go for soggy chips or soup, whatever really.
oh and when i had my braces tooken off, it absolutley killed me, because he yanked them off so hard.. oh and i had these little metals things behind two of my teeth, and he couldn't get it off properly, and when he finally managed to, he chipped one of my teeth!!
and the retainers are ok, not too bad
Braces Hurt so much!
They hurt when you first get them tightened and when you get a power chain. and when you get rubber bands.
when i first got mine on they hurt for a month and a half
when i get them tightened they hurt for 3-5 days
With a power chain they hurt for about a week to a week and a half
And When you get rubber bands they hurt for about a week or two depending on where you get them.
They Hurt Alot, but i always tell my self that my teeth are going to look amazing when i get them off : )
Take Advil
Eat Solids
Eat Popsicles : )
it doesn't hurt one bit when you get them on you're lips feel weird because they hold them back and there's just a little bit of pressure. It hurts after though and yes it hurts when you get them tightened...........real bad take advil before you go hope i helped!
