Toothpaste leaving film?!

Toothpaste leaving film?

over thast past few years i've noticed that when i use whitening toothpaste it leaves a film in my mouth a few hours later. i was wondering if anyone knew why.

Answers:

Some toothpastes actually have components in them to purposefully leave a film to prevent new buildup and stain on the teeth. Some of my patients actually have had a inflammatory response of the gums with these. Ask your hygienist if you really need a whitener, if you don't get much stain you might not. The whitening toothpaste isn't usually that effective in whitening the teeth, but just keeping stain away. Best thing to do is to brush 2 times a day for 2 minutes and floss with regular dental cleanings. Maybe even use a power toothbrush, I love my Oral B Braun!
