I am having jaw pain on the left joint.?!

Question: Hi,

I went on to Webmd for some answers but what some more lol.

Today I noticed my bite is off, (It is normally crooked) but today it is extremely bad. And the actual jaw joint hurts like no other. If I focus I can bite down normally but it hurts, but when eating it naturally wants to go to far left and hurts worse.

I do have severe dental problems but have never had my jaw hurt like this before. It is actually only comfortable when I am biting down softly on my tongue.

I can also pop it, but I have been able to do that for years. But today I can only pop the painful side and not the other like normal.

I am a singer so it is important to keep this healthy! I took some tylenol but it didnt work.

I have the same problem. It's called TMJ (Temporomandibular joint syndrome). And there are lots of ways to get relief. It could be caused by Bruxism (grinding teeth at night) in which case you can try meditation, avoid chewing gum, and sleep on your back. Other ways to help the situation is to avoid putting your jaw or neck into strange positions in everyday life (like crooking your neck to hold a phone while you talk.) You can also do exercises, but those are designed by a dentist. If you can't go to the dentist, just be as easy as you can on your jaw.

Come to America!!

We will buy you a new head!!!

Don't bite it next time damn it.. I told you not to fukin do that.. That sh!t hurts more than you would immagine.. I'll try it on you next time and see how you like it!

It sounds like TMJ. I have it too, and it can be quite painful. Put a heating pad on it when it starts to hurt. Sometimes that can help. Also, buy a mouthpiece (they sell them in drugstores, walmart, etc.) that fits in your mouth and helps with the alignment and keeps you from grinding.
It will not cure it, but it may help until you can afford a dentist. FYI- insurance usually doesn't cover treatment for TMJ. I never have understood why...if I didn't brush my kids teeth, they would pay to fix a mouthful of teeth, but they will not pay for something that is beyond our control.
