Part of a molar just broke off?!

Question: And from the look of the piece that came out, it was broken before it broke off and fell out. What I'm concerned about is this: there's a hole in my gums where the part that came out used to be. Should I be concerned? I can't tell if this piece of tooth left anything behind under the gums. If the root is still in there or part of the tooth, I can't tell. The rest of the tooth is intact.

This tooth had been bothering me for about a week (sensitive to pressure, but not hot and cold).

What do you think?

oh TERA...
i'm wondering that u didn't go to a dentist yet... what r u waiting........

that tooth may be fixed by root canat treatment then post and crown ..... don't wait to lose it all .. then u'll need more complex things....

if the fractue line is very deep { more than 1/3 of the root} mostly need extraction...

if that tooth was root nanal treated before.. the tooth is in danger now.. go to the dentist...

I'm no dentist but definitely set up an appointment soon and i think they could put a cap on and see if the tooth left something in there but as i said im no dentis so im not sure but definetly set up an appointtment and see what they can do

I think you defiantly need to go to your dentist and have it checked. Sounds like you may need to have the rest pulled out or have a root canal and a permanent crown applied. Don't just leave it, you can get a nasty infection and abscess.

walmart, savons, cvs drug stores have a temporary filling kit with medication in it to close the whole til you can see a dentist.
Also, you can rinse your mouth with warm water and a lil bit of peroxide to help with the gum healing
hope this helps
been there before............lol

...Just have the whole tooth pulled the rest of the way out. I had to argue with my (NEW) dentist for over 20 minutes to pull my second molar out. I was told as a 25 yr old (I am now 44) that my last molars on the bottom were "defective". My bottom lower molars started breaking a few years later. I spent over $1000 (pocket money, no insurance) trying to "save the tooth". B.S. Gold Crown, etc, etc. Lasted 8 yrs. After that, lived for two years with a tooth broken all the way down to the gum on the right side and when the same thing started happening on the left, I REFUSED to "save the tooth". He pulled it for me for $200, cash. Get Novacaine, a good Dentist, and some pain meds for after. Don't let them tell you that your teeth "have to meet". I haven't had one problem with that. Good luck.

there is abcess underneath your tooth that is usually at the buttom end of your tooth's root. it is best for you to take antibiotics and pain reliever but you have to see your dentist so he or she can prescribed you with that for more medical history because you might be allergic to any of this medication. it is best for you to tell your doctor of your medical history to avoid complications and so she can prescribed you with other medicine or drugs that is non allergic or suitable for you.
as for your tooth being fractured, i dont think your dentist can do other treatment since the tooth is badly fractured the best remedy for that is extraction for it can no longer be save not even root canal or having it filled.
good luck!

There could have been a hidden caries, it happens sometimes, if it was sensitive to pressure it may confirm. You have to see a dentist. Even if for now there's no immediante concern, if the root is still there, you may risk some abscess and serious infection in future. Keep your mouth clean, rinse frequently and fix an appointment. You'd surely have to get the gum checked for the remainder of the moral, then the root may be extracted, or just cleaned and fixed with a prostetic crown, you can't tell now, even if you feel no immediate pain.
