Wisdom Teeth and Older people?!

Question:

Wisdom Teeth and Older people?

Were wisdom teeth extracted from people back in the 1920's and 1930's? Is this one of the reasons why the elders now don't always have the greatest teeth? I have a friend who says he wont get his teeth pulled because in the olden days they didn't do it, and apparently they are fine now.

Answers:

no not exactly...the reason elders dont have the greatest teeth is because of technology wasnt the greatest than...no x ray machines to find cavities...they didnt have root canal back than, which would save teeth from decaying and falling out...they also didnt have novicaine back than and that made many people develop a phobia of the dentist..they were to scared to go...is that the real reason your friend wont go...if he doesnt get the tooth pull he may be in pain later..the tooth could get infected...i would prefer to go to the dentist now in this day in age because with dental advances you are able to be more comfortable at the denist(as well as can be expected)they will numb you(if your not numb dont be afraid to ask for more novicaine) and sweet air is a sugestions if your friend is afraid(sweet air helps to relax you)ive seen many older patients use this because they do have a phobia of the dentist...well i hope this helped..good luck:)
