Compare sensitivity between white and silver fillings?!

Question: I got some teeth filled 2 weeks ago and about a month ago. All on the same side and all filled in silver. VERY VERY sensitive to hot and cold still. I have to get 3 done on the opposite side. Can any one tell me how the white and silver compare in sensity and cost, and will the silver always be this sensitive?

White filings are FAR FAR more sensitive and while the sensitivity with silver fillings normally dies down in a week, white fillings can always be sensitive to hot/cold. White fillings are also far more expensive and do not last as many years as silver. Then again white fillings do look nicer and normally require less tooth tissue to be taken away and can be better for the life span of your tooth. Talk to your dentist.

I have all silver ones & the sensitivity never has gone away.

My dentist charges the same for silver and white fillings. You might want to check on the research done on mercury amalgam fillings (silver).

I won't let the dentist use them on me or my boys anymore.

Good luck!

I have had all my silver fillings replaced with composit. I have never had any sensitivity with the composit. the silver fillings are metal and expand or contract with temperature change. Composit is not metal and therefore does not change.
