Now or after?!

Question: i'm having a tooth pulled on wednesday the 6th. they already gave me the perscriptions to be filled. i haven't done it yet. they didn't say if i should take the antibiotic now or start after they pull it out. my dad thinks i should start now. but my dad also said to go fill it because HE NEEDS antibiotics!! he thinks hes got strep or something. now i dont even want to fill MY perscription because why would i take his advice about preventing infections after him telling me HE needs them. so would it be fine to wait to start taking them?

DO NOT SHARE ANY PERSCRIPTIONS WITH ANYBODY!!!!! If you're dad does have strep and if he does need antibiotics, then let him get his own. Firstly, YOU need yours. Secondly, there are many different kinds of antibiotics and the doctor might prefer to perscribe a different kind fior your dad's strep.

Call your doctor and ask him/her if you should start taking your perscription now or later. If you have an infection already, you should start now. But if your dentist intended for you to start them after the tooth was pulled, then you may run out early if you start too soon. I don't see a problem with filling the perscription now, though. All that matters is when you start taking it.

But regardless of your fear of your dad taking your medication, do fill the perscription (either now or later). If the doctor perscribed those antibiotics for you, it's important that you take them because the doctor had a reason for requesting that you do so. If you're worried about your dad "borrowing" some of your medication, if it doesn't have to be refridgerated, you can always hide it in your room somewhere.

The dentist must think that you have an infection so that is why he/she prescribed an antibiotic. I would get it filled and start taking it now. Let you dad get his own prescriptions.

Yes, start taking the antibiotic a.s.a.p. Your dentist prescribed penicillin so the infection wouldn't spread to another area..your dad is right about that.

it is better to take a.b. 3 days before and 3 days after .

Sorry to say that there is a bit of confusion un your question and also getting your dad in the story.
It's Okay you are having a tooth pilled out. Just go and it shouldn't be of a problem. If there is the dentist will give what you need, like antibiotics. You take antibiotics only if there might be some infection or anything wrong. If the dentist find anything of these they should postpone the pull out till your gums are healthy, otherwise there shouldn't be any intervention. After they might see fit that you need some antibiotics. So take them.
Don't mix your case with your father's. He could have a different story.
You don't take antibiotics to prevent infections but to heal. So ait to start taking them. They will do more damage if you take take when you don't need them.
