After Effects of taking Clindamycin For Abscess?
Since last Monday I have been taking Clindamycin for an abscess baby tooth I had. I was prescribed to take 4 pills a day. On the third day I could only stomach to take 3 pills (150mg) a day because I felt very out of it, couldnt eat much (food didnt even sound good) and nausea, gas, stomach cramps and (sorry) strange bowel movements such as mild diarhea. On Sunday, I cut myself back to 2 pills a day because Saturday, I felt ill ( kind of just very strange feeling all over ) So yesterday, I took two more. Being that I felt great on Sun & Mon. Today I just havent felt 100% like I should from the start and I haven't taken any meds. I have 6 pills left out of 28 and I just feel like the best thing to do is stop this medication as I feel it is doing more bad then good. My mouth feels great, doing saltwater rinses every day, gums are pink and look pretty healthy now. Any advice or opionions are welcome! My goal is to just get back to feeling normal again. As a dentist I HIGHLY recommend that you continue taking your medication as directed. If you stop taking the medication now there is a chance that the infection can return and usually the infection is much worse the second time. Clindamycin is a very strong antibiotic and you should definitely try to eat a good bit of food before taking it. Your dentist prescribed this many pills for a very good reason and you should definitely finish the prescription as directed.
