What should i do my daughter has a supernumery tooth?!

Question: she is 7 years old

Answers: she is 7 years old

Go with the advice from your Dentist as the positioning and location of the supernumary (extra) teeth (or tooth) can affect the eruption of the permanent teeth. You will probably be referred to an oral surgeon to have the tooth extracted and this will also give you a second opinion as to the need to extract. My son had 2 supernumaries above his maxillary centrals extracted at about the same age as your daughter - he's now well into his 20's with lovely teeth.

Don't know. What is a supernumery tooth?

Why not ask the dentist? Surly dental care for a 7 years old is very comprehensive!!

Its a Supernumerary tooth. Take her to a good dentist and find out all options open to you.

A supernumerary tooth is an abnormally developed extra tooth. It is mostly related to heredity. It can appear at any region of the dental arch, but most commonly erupts in between the upper front teeth, or is completely embedded inside the jaw.
Oral problems associated with supernumerary teeth:
Failure of eruption of permanent teeth
Delayed eruption of permanent teeth
Displacement of a permanent tooth
Irregular alignment of teeth
If the above situations happen, the supernumerary tooth needs to be extracted. If the supernumerary tooth cannot erupt, surgical extraction of the supernumerary tooth is required.

Have it removed. My son had one and it was not big deal, came right out.

FYI: supernumerary tooth is an extra tooth

As its difficult to predict whether or not if will block an adult tooth from coming through, you should get your dentist to keep an eye on it. It may need refering to a specialist

Discuss your options with a dentist.

Ive had these, got one at the moment actually, ive had mine removed. Most of mine appeared when I was a kid about the same age, at one point I had a lovely set of fangs sprouting out at the top, I looked like a vampire! They just needed to be removed.

Im waiting to get this one taken out at the moment, I have had another wisdom tooth grow, even though ive had all mine removed years ago, Ive got another one growing in at the back.

Just take her to the dentist and see what he suggests.

Have you been told that she has a supernumerary tooth or are you just guessing? These are nothing to worry about and are easily removed. Just follow your dentist's advice. I know it's scary to you as a Mom but try to chill out.
