You definitely should go to a dentist and see if they will make a night guard for you. Grinding teeth not only causes sore muscles and discomfort, but it can cause damage to your teeth (particularly occlusal wear and cracking). Even if you were not having muscle soreness, I would still recommend a night guard to protect your teeth. In regards to your muscle soreness, 80% of people who have the night guard made for this problem find relief from their symptoms. If the night guard does not solve your problem completely, the dentist may be able to make other recommendations for you in addition to it. Take care.

I dont know anything about meds and side effects but i grind my teeth in my sleep and i have found the best way to stop is to make sure you are not tensing up your jaw throughout the day. Make sure your jaw is slack and relaxed before going to sleep. It is really horrible having a sore jaw that clicks and sticks!! But i dont really get that anymore.

no i have braces

go to the dentist. Teeth grinding usually occurs during your sleep, so ask the dentist for a mouth guard. It's something you put in your mouth before you sleep.

My hubby says I do, I have never heard it but its sounds horrible according to him, like someone running their nails Down a blackboard really screechy.
