2 year old dentist appointment?

Im going to be bringing me 2 year old to her first dentist appt. I am just wondering what will take place. Im having a very hard time imagining her sitting there with her mouth open for the dentist. What did they do when you brought your child for their first checkup?

Yes, we take very good care of her teeth. Brushing every morning and night. And only concern we had was... We just moved to NC from NY. In NY we lived in a very small town, no flouride in the water so she was on drops. When we moved here (fayetteville) I called PWC, the water supplier and asked about flouride the lady whom was very rude I might add said " No mom there is no flouride in our water. " and then she hung up. So I kept giving her flouride, I then noticed white spots on her 2 front teeth. Not bad or too big. Im sure they arent noticable unless looking for them. I spoke with her pediatrician about it. Called PWC and spoke to like a water specialist whom them explained to me that YES there was flouride in there water and it was 100% of what she needed. This was the only concern that prompted the dentist appt.

Typically a pediatric dentist might do the following:

- look at the teeth to see what the general condition of your child's mouth is in.

- take a few bitewing X-rays to make sure all the developing teeth are there.

- a prophylaxis (gently removing any accumulated plaque and polishing using a rubber cup, which might be ticklish for the child).

- Instructions for you and your child on how to keep those teeth nice and healthy.

Every six months for a checkup.

And that's it! Nothing to worry about.
