It depends on how big the filling is and how much tooth tissue is left to support it. The bigger a filling the more it weakens a tooth. Sounds like the tooth needs a crown if it can't hold a filling.
I've had some that lasted 10yrs and then had to be dragged out to be replaced thats sounds like a temp one!!
Complain loudly to your dentist!!
Depends how you treat the tooth avoid very hot drinks.........after all the dentist only does a temporary job you must be careful
about 8-12 years.
I've had some for upwards of twenty years - you need a refund!
Go back and ask them to replace the filling free.
I think they are only covered for about a year but its worth ringing and asking another Dentist (just the receptionist will probably do) to get an idea.
The experts predict that it can reach up to 16 years but I would advise changing them before then.

If no recurrent decay can be any number of years. I have one in a 6 yr molar occlusial filling that was put in 60 yrs a go. If the tooth decays a gain could be a short time?? DR H Walker
