Playing rugby with a crown?? Experienced dentists please?!

Question: I am 15 now and i was on a trampoline about 7 months ago and hit my face of the bar that goes around it. I broke my top front tooth in half and fractured the other top front tooth. I have a temporary crown(im not sure of the actual name) with 2 pins a plate inside it, because i cant get a real crown until i am 17 or 18. I want to go back playing rugby in the next week or so. Do you think a custom fit moutguard would be substantial? how much do they cost?

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 20 years and I recommend that all my patients wear a mouthguard for any sports with contact. If it works for professional football players and boxers, it will certainly work fine for you. They differ in prices. Often you can buy one in the sports stores for 19-35 dollars. I make them for 50-125. If I make them for the whole tem I charge much less. Just make sure you get one and wear it. You will be fine and good luck with the new crowns when you are older! ~M
