Ease pain from braces?!

Question: I just got braces this morning, then when I went to school near lunch they started to hurt a little, and in Science they really started to hurt, and now they are horrible.

Any suggestions on what I can do to ease the pain? Thanks!

When I just got braces I took pain killers and stayed away from solid foods for like a week.

Good luck. You know what's weird. You're going to miss them when they get taken off... or at least I did.

I just got mine off (woo) but while I had them I liked to suck on ice to numb my mouth a little.

use the wax they give you and drink/eat cold soft foods the pain will go away within 3 days.

I would Suggest Ibuprofen. It Is The Best Pain killer I have EVER tried!!! =D

If The Braces Are Scratching your cheeks, Just put on some Wax! =)

Naproxen sodium (aleve) really helped me. Being careful not to hit your teeth together really helps too!! I used to eat a nice lunch before I went to have them re-arranged, cause I knew I wouldn't be able to eat for a few days! There is NO pain like mouth pain!

take some tylonol or ibuprophin. and try to avoid really hard chewy foods for some time. also if you have a wire or a sharp spot that is poking you and hurting they sell dental wax that you can stick a little peice on the spot until you can see you orthodontist and see if they can fix it. Good luck! :)

Aleve is amazing. So is warm tomato soup + cheese + crackers.

It goes away after a couple days, honest.

that wax they give you DOES not WORK. really it doesnt.

eat jello and ice cream...ice cream works for the pain
