Internal bleaching of a tooth after root canal.?!

Question:

Internal bleaching of a tooth after root canal.?

Did anyone receive internal bleaching of a tooth after root canal? Im getting one on my front tooth and want to find the best procedure to hide a darkened tooth. Did internal bleaching give a satisfactory colour, or is another method (veneer etc.) necessary. I don't trust cosmetic websites that promise miracles. Thanks.

Answers:

You can have it internally bleached to prevent discoloration. However, a crown is normally recommended for root canaled teeth b/c they become brittle b/c they are dead after the root canal and many times will break off years later b/c they are so brittle. The worry about this is when root canaled teeth break they often break down the root and then have to be removed. All that money becomes wasted. Do yourself a favor and get the crown right after the root canal.
