How long does it take to do a filling?!

Question: I'm going to the dentist tomorrow morning at for one. The cavity is pretty large, does anyone know how long it takes? I've gotten fillings in the past but it was a really long time ago.

Most dentist take about :

10mins Prep
7mins filling
3mins UV-Light Dry

Total 20mins.

The effects of the numbing injection lasts about 2hours.

It is a good Idea to take an asprin or Tylenol before the filing and one after to prevent pain and discomfort.

Good Luck!

it varies on how long his assistant likes to talk but for just one you should be in and out without the hour

Not too long....probably about 30 to 45 mins maybe

You should be in and out in about 1 to 1:15. They're going to take atleast 15 min or so having you wait in the lobby.

It depends on the amount of decay, the size of filling you will need, and the type of filling you will be getting either a composite or amalgam. Also, the how long the dentist chats with his patient, and how old the dentist is. :O) But a good average would be an 45 minutes. IMHO.

It depends on ur tooth cavity. If u ve pain most probably RCT (root canal filling) is the treatment. It needs multiple appointments and treatment is expensive and the duration also increases (nearly 1hr).
If ur cavity is big and no pain at all may be they give u a temporary filling (takes only 10-20 mins) and after 2wks u shld replace it with permanent filling (only if u ve no pain). If pain RCT is the treatment.
If ur cavity is small and no pain till day it needs the maximum of 30-40 mins.

It all depends on the size of the cavity. If it's large it could take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.

I had recently got two filings. Getting them both done took about an hour.
