My tooth is very sensitive what could it be?!

Question:

My tooth is very sensitive what could it be?

Hey guys my tooth really hurts and is sensitive. Its in the back and I can see a half pea sized brown spot. It is very sensitive to hot/cold. Please help, my mom is going to schedule a dentist appointment today. What could this be? Oh and I dont know if ive had a filling there or not.

Answers:

It is probably a cavity. And the reason it is sensitive is because the cavity has hit the nerve. If you have a filling there already then it is probably an infection, which can be taken care of with antibiotics. If the tooth is bad enough you might have to either get it pulled or have a root canal. Your dentist will let you know what it is and the appropriate action to take.
