Still getting pain after root canal, there is no infection - what else can be do!

Question:

Still getting pain after root canal, there is no infection - what else can be done?

After a filling fell out in an upper tooth, its the second from back bearing in mind I dont have wisdom teeth, my dentist re-filled it but this caused terrible toothache so he recommended root canal. This was very difficult as the roots are abnormal. There are four roots that bend in S shapes, one is nearly 90 degrees bent and one root is so long it didnt fit onto the x-ray!

After a few attempts, my dentist says the tooth is completely sealed but it still aches all the time. He filed it right down and there is no infection or abcess (never was) and he is at a loss to explain this pain and sensitivity. He has checked for cracks etc and says the tooth is healthy.

He says all he can do is refer me to a specialist or pull the tooth out. I dont want to lose the tooth so prepared to see the specialist but what can he do that my dentist cant?? This is soooo depressing. Can anyone help please?
