Having my cavaties filled for the first time?!

Question: Ok, I'm 23 years old and I have several cavaties. I'm deathly afraid of the dentist and I'm a virgin (my teeth that is you pervs)and I'm really afraid. What do they do to you? And does it hurt?
I promised myself I can get a new piercing if I actually show up and go thru because I've made the appointment then canceled because I'm so scared.

they put numbing cream to numb the shots. then they drill out the decay but it doesnt hurt at all it just feels funny. then they fill it,then they cure the filling[this only takes like a minute per tooth] and your all done!!!

Its not that bad. It hurts a little if you have sensitive teeth, but they usually numb it first, and then they fill it. I had to get 4 fillings in one day once, and it hurt for about an hour after, but then the pain subsided. Braces are more hellish.

Hi =P I Am 12, And I had gotten 2 fillings. One when I was 8, and one about a year ago.

The only bad thing about it is the needle, but as i said before... I'm just a kid. I am a HUGE wimp to pain, but the needle wasn't as bad as getting the bottom of your ears pierced (if you have ever had it done)! Trust me, It Doesn't Hurt.

1. They will put a TINY bit of numbing paste in your mouth to numb the area where they will inject the needle. After It Is Numb (about 1 Min) They will Inject The Numbing stuff ( Sorry, I forgot the name =()
2. About 5-15 minutes later they will come in and ask if your cheek feels fat, and if it does, they are ready to proceed.
3. The will drill away some of the cavity, and rinse out your mouth.
4. They Will Put some 'paste' on your tooth.
5. They will put the filling in, and dry it with a light.
6.you will bite on blue/purple to see how it bites (if you bite the filling).
7. If they have to, they will drill excess filling material away and re-do steps 6 & 7 again if they have to.

I'm not sure if It's the same with a 23 year-old, but they might.
I am terribly sorry if I missed anything!
Goodluck!! =D
