I recommend that the child come see me as soon as he has four teeth. This visit is mainly to help mom understand how to take care of baby's teeth and catch any cavities when they are small.
I see mainly children in my practice and you would not believe how many teeth I have to extract from 2 and 3 year olds simply because nobody ever taught mom how to take care of her baby's teeth. By the time they come to my office at 2 or 3 years old it is often too late for me to save the teeth. Honestly, it makes me sad and a llittle sick every time I have to do that, but it's what has to be done.
by his 1st birthday should be his 1st denta lvisit, even though he wouldnt have any decay or any problem but getting used to the dentist is crucial for later follow up visits
and getting to know that the dentist is really a nice guy after all underneath that white coat of terror!

follow up every 6 months. however if his teeth have increased risk for developing decay follow up scedules are changed!
