I was thinking about becomeing a Ortho...?!

Question: -dontist or an aid
but when you go to find the major they dont have like dentistry or something...
So what would the major be for that?
And say later on in the future after being in the ortho field you want to make dentures and such how hard would it be to become that?
and what is the specific name for a denture maker?

Well most people that actually make dentures work in a dental lab, and are considered a dental lab tech., but i have never seen a program that trains you to be one, although I'm sure they exist. Any dentist can cast molds for dentures, you don't have to be specialist. If your considering being a orthodontist, make sure that you can handle kids and teenage attitudes, they'll be the largest percentage of your patient base. Most of the time the dental assistants do most of the work in ortho practices, so it's breeze compared to some of the other dental professions. some colleges offer pre-dentistry bachelors degrees that will prepare you for dental school. Good luck in the future, it's tough to decide "what we want to be when you grow up", and most of us change our minds along the way, so don't get discouraged..

Dental Hygiene is a bachelors degree in many Universities. If they don't offer in any of them in your area, you might have to study further from home. Also, I'm sure denture making is more of a trade skill then a degree holding area. To be an Orthodontist you have to be a licensed dentist anyways, and being an Orthodontist you will have connections to the people who make the dentures anyways.

Here is a link for a dental college at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, it may have answers to your questions. My brother studied dentistry at at the University of Buffalo in New York.University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine (SUNY) Here are more:
