I wasnt sure where to ask this...but help!?!

Question: Why do i grind my teeth while i sleep?

I'm the most stressed free person in this world and i don't know whats causing this!!

i either bite down real hard or grind my teeth..i wake up and my jaw is in a great amount of pain every morning..

I've looked into getting a mouth guard, but i would like to know what could possibly be causing this..thanks!

There are alot of reasons for causing grinding, but stress is usually the main culprit. When i was in dental school...i was clenching every night...the first month after i was out, i stopped, and i haven't since, unless i'm really really stressed.

Here are some other reasons for causing the grinding/clenching taken from wikipedia:

1, Disturbed sleep pattern/Other Sleep disorders (Obstructive sleep apnea, Snoring, moderate daytime sleepiness)
2. Malocclusion, in which the upper and lower teeth fit together in a dysfunctional way, typically through lateral asymmetry and dysocclusion of the front teeth through premature contact of back teeth.
3. Relatively high levels of consumption of caffeinated drinks and foods, such as coffee, colas, and chocolate
4. High levels of alcohol consumption
5. Smoking
6. Consumption of MDMA and Cocaine
7. High levels of anxiety and/or stress
8. SSRIs
9. Digestive problems
10. Hypersensitivity of the dopamine receptors in the brain
11. Consumption of drugs and medications of the amphetamine-based family, such as MDMA

well, this is pretty common. My brother does the same thing, I cant really remember what it is called, but its similar to people who always bounce their leg when they are sitting. Just that you're asleep and you're grinding your teeth. I sometimes do it as well.

oh yea its called bruxism, if you are really worried, you can get it checked out by your dentist to see if there are any jaw tenderness or abnormalities in your teeth.

go to a doctor or dentist and ask why you are doing this

very common.
I've done this all my life as I have been told by others when travelling.
We don't know whay causes this...I've checked as well.

usually its because your stressed out or depressed but some people do it for other reasons you should start sleeping with a mouth guard so you dont ruin your teeth
