Had cavity filled Friday; pain around site of novocain injection today, will thi!

Question:

Had cavity filled Friday; pain around site of novocain injection today, will this last long?

I've had cavities filled before but I don't remember having slight pain in my gums a couple days later. It's not agonizing, just enough to be annoying. In spite of having the topical anesthetic I still felt the injection quite a bit, which didn't happen when I got fillings before. Is this serious?

Answers:

Nah, it's absolutely normal to have a little pain after an injection.
I'm a Dental Assistant (for 20 yrs.) and I know for a fact that it is normal.
It usually takes anywhere from 2-7 days to get back to normal.
Don't worry, hang in there.
Hope I eased your mind a little?
Have a great day!
