Wisdom teeth taken out in hospital under general?

I have avoided the dentist for 12 years because i was too nervous to go.One of my wisdom teeth is sore and pushing up through gum a bit so went dentist after hubby forced me. An x-ray showed i have 2 wisdom teeth at bottom growing in and pressing on the nerves.The dentist told me it was too dangerous to remove them so needed to go hospital under general aneasthetic. I am so scared, not of the pain but because he said dangerous. Whys it dangerous? i was too nervous to ask.Could something go wrong? what would happen if i didnt have them removed?
I don't even have the appointment but i shake and feel sick when thinking of it, i've been under 3 times before and it never bothered me, in fact i enjoyed it.But since having a baby im obsessed about something happening to me.
Please if you've had it done can you reassure me :o)

you should not worry i worked in theatres for years and saw lots of these ops you will be well looked after and a reassuring person round every moment, experts are brill have faith in them and try not to worry, ask all the q's u need that is why they are there... to answer... be safe sweetie you will be fine and for once get brekky in bed!! be pain free by having it done life is for living not sufferingxxxxxx
