My Lip And Cheek Have Swelled Up!?!

Question:

My Lip And Cheek Have Swelled Up!?

So it goes like this, the top right side of my lip has swelled up, it has been like this since yesterday. My cheek has also started to swell too. Im worried. Two days ago, I ate something I hadn't had before some gummy sweet and I woke up with my lip swollen. I had some more of them last night, more than the other night and it has got worse. I have been taking Piriton medicine and that makes it go down, then it swells back up, just before Im due for it again. The clinic have said I should carry on with the Piriton and go to A & E if I have breathing problems. Im concerned it may be a tooth abscess as I did have toothache the other day. It is now 11:19pm and I can't have any more Piriton until 12:45am. Also I have school tomorrow and I missed 4 days last week, so I can't afford any more days off as I have exams but if it is still swelled I'll have to stay off. Any help on getting the swelling down or what it might be? The irony of the story is the sweets weren't that nice =/. Shame =[.

Ok, thanks you two, I am definately going to see either a dentist or doctor today as the swelling has spread to my right eye.

You need to get to a dentist as soon as possible. If you have had a toothache, it's very possible that you have an abssess and with an abssess it's possible that it is swelling out from underneath the tooth and into neighboring areas.

Though if you are seeing a decrease in the size of your lip with taking Piriton (an allergy drug), then it is possible that you are having an allergic reaction to something.

If you are still having an allergic reaction (it looks like?) 2 days after whatever you have eaten, I would recommend going to a doctor or a clinic. You really, really need to get this looked at.

Though one question for you, is the swelling on the lip all on one side or is it on both. If only say, you left cheek and left upper lip are swollen then it is possibly a tooth abssess...if both sides of your upper lip and both cheeks are swollen, then it is possibly an allergic reaction.

Though either way, you shoudl make an appointment with a doctor and a dentist ASAP.
