2 1/2 months after wisdom tooth removal pain?!

Question: I am 22 and had all four wisdom teeth taken out on 11/27 last year. I didn't get dry socket and everything went smooth until a few days ago. On my bottom jaw I got a dull pressure pain. The gum next to the extraction site is really senseitive and about a day ago I noticed what looks like a portion of bone towards the surface of the gum on the inside (near tounge). There doesn't appear to be any excess swelling when compared to the other side. The gum is just senseitive. Is this just the jaw bone healing? Or could this cause a problem with my back molar? It doesn't appear to be pressing on the tooth and today the presure pain has been greatly reduced. Please refer me to a detailed webpage if possible. I did have partial boney impactions.

Sounds like partial bone fragments working their way out. Take anti imflamitory/pain reliever. I would suggest ibuprofen or something for female cramping. The splinters are working their way out of the dense tissue. You may have a slight infection and doctor can give you anti biotics to take the infection down and then pain meds for pain!

Try rinsing with saltwater and mouthwash. if you see the bone pieces coming out try leaving it alone!
Go to the dentist who extracted yours and take their advice!

lol

yeeeouch.

Get yourself to the dentist. 2 1/2 months.. that's not normal to still be having pain. It could be infected. Wash with original Listerine and make an appointment to see your dentist.

Maybe some infection in the bone. See the dentist. Probably get an x-ray and some antibiotics.

If you haven't called your dentist/doctor, you should. Even if the pain eases now, there may be in infection that has killed the nerve. This should be part of your surgery followup without extra charges, except maybe for prescribed meds.

I'd check out http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/tc/wisd...
to start with. Did you rinse frequently with saltwater after having them out? Use Listerine for mouth wash and don't be afraid to gently massage them while brushing.

Get yourself back to your dentist. You may have some infection. Don't try to be smart by treating it yourself. You might get into trouble (I'm not scaring you, I'm working with health site).

Hi, given the time frame since the extraction and the fact that you say you see what appears to be "Bone" near the extraction site. While it's not common, it's possible the professional who performed your extractions may have broken off a root tip and failed to go back and remove it. Such cases do indeed often create pain...Let me add that in spite of some folks who say root tips dissolve over time..."Not True"...and that's a fact jack. A good dental professional can most likely confirm if what your seeing is really bone or root tip, in any case the health of your body and especially the jaw bone requires you get an exam ASAP.
